Divine Biography
Elyonel is known as the Firstborn of the Creator, the original Primordial who retained both divine grace and unshakable loyalty after the War of the Celestials. Forged from the first rays of divine light when the First Song was sung, Elyonel was shaped to be the defender of mortal hope, the protector of those unable to shield themselves.
When the Creator divided the cosmos into twelve dimensions, Elyonel was entrusted with the Twelfth — a realm untouched by corruption, a sanctuary where mortal life could flourish beyond the reach of the Daemons. His oath was not only to guard this plane, but to ensure that the harmony of the First Song would never be fully silenced.
While many of his siblings fell to pride, wrath, or despair, Elyonel stood firm. During the Celestial War, he raised legions of light to hold the dimensional fractures against Mordhekan’s warbands and Larythis’ illusions. When Virekos — once the Guardian of Peace — fell into madness and became the Daemon of Discord, it was Elyonel who wept, yet did not waver.
Nature and Appearance
In divine form, Elyonel is depicted as an angelic being of immense stature, crowned by a halo of living sunlight. His wings blaze like dawnfire, and his voice is said to carry the tone of the First Song itself. Mortals cannot look upon his face directly without being overwhelmed by emotion — awe, sorrow, and hope in equal measure.
Despite his radiant form, Elyonel is not a god of comfort, but of discipline and sacrifice. His justice is measured, not gentle. He teaches that light must be carried — and that to carry it, one must endure the weight of it.
Cults and Worship
Elyonel is the chief god of the Sacra Inquisition of the Divine Flame, and the cornerstone of most Caltheronian theology. His faith emphasizes unity through faith, protection through strength, and the necessity of difficult decisions to shield the innocent.
Temples to Elyonel often feature high spires, open to sunlight, and are lined with mirrors to reflect his glory throughout the halls. Clerics and inquisitors who serve him wear robes of white and gold, trimmed in red — symbolizing purity, radiance, and the blood that must sometimes be spilled in the name of order.
Despite being viewed as benevolent, Elyonel’s church has grown increasingly authoritarian in some regions. This has created tension with older faiths, particularly elven and druidic traditions, who view the spread of his doctrine as an imperial tool as much as a spiritual movement.
Legacy in Astravara
Elyonel’s influence shapes the very fabric of modern civilization in Astravara. From the rise of the human kingdoms to the foundation of the Inquisition, his presence — or at least his name — has justified wars, miracles, and martyrs.
He is invoked in battle, sworn to in oaths, and etched in the hearts of children taught that light will triumph if it is never allowed to dim.
But there are whispers… that Elyonel, though still revered, has grown distant. That his silence in the darkest hours of the current age may signal either a great test — or a divine reckoning yet to come.
